THOUGHTS
Who Am I If I Am Not My Thoughts?
This is a profound question that everyone should take a moment to ask themselves. Most people never dive deeply enough to understand who they truly are. The world we live in often distracts us from this exploration. Yet, this question holds the potential to unlock a truth that could completely reshape the way we experience life.
When we say you are the observer of your thoughts, what does that truly mean? At first glance, it may sound simple, but in practice, it reveals a deeper layer of reality. Your personality, as you know it, is shaped by external influences, your environment, upbringing and social conditioning. But these are just filters. The true "you" is not your thoughts or these influences. The real essence, the pure being that animates your body, exists beyond these layers of thought.
This realization strikes a heavy blow to the ego. The ego, as we know it, is a fragile construct. It thrives on the idea that it is in control, a thought-based entity that society has helped build and reinforce as part of conformity. The ego is an illusion, and the belief in it only serves to blind us to our deeper nature.
Have you ever experienced a moment when someone close to you seems to know you better than you know yourself? It’s because they’re not experiencing the whirlwind of thoughts inside your mind. They see you through your actions, through the nature of your being, not the narrative your thoughts create. Your internal dialogue isn't reality; it’s just a story.
When we return to the present moment, shedding the distractions of our thought life, we get a glimpse of who we really are. We are "human beings," not "human thinkings." We are consciousness itself, not the unconscious patterns of thought that play out in our minds. Until you transcend this illusory ego and rise above the endless chatter of your thoughts, life will feel like a program, predictable, cause and effect, looping endlessly.
Only by stepping out of the mind program of unconscious thought can we awaken to our divine nature, a truth too often hidden by the illusions of our mind.
